Mr. Tak Toda is a recognized and internationally prominent leader in the field of retail design, specializing in the creation of signature retail environments. His specialty-themed merchandise environments range from food to soft goods to entertainment complexes, from speciality stores, department stores to shopping centers in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

A graduate of the prestigious Art Center College of Design in environmental design, Toda began his career as a Designer for Cornell, Bridgers & Troller ASLA, Landscape Architects, masterplanning and creating designs for the Los Angeles City Hall Mall, Iowa Beef Packers, and Pomona City Hall.

Toda joined Chaix & Johnson Associates, an international Store Planning and Design firm, where he served for 12 years as a Design Director, Vice President / Account Executive. Clients included: Isetan; Matsuya in Tokyo, Daimaru, Osaka, Singapore, and Hong Kong; Duty Free Shoppers San Francisco, Hong Kong, Hawaii; Sanger-Harris Department Stores in Dallas, Texas; and Central Department Store in Thailand.

Over the years, Toda has accumulated a long list of credits for exceptional retail planning and award-winning designs. From the home-meal-replacement concept for Eatzi's, to the Hilton Space Quest Casino, the Caesar's Forum Shop, Hard Rock Cafe and Disney Stores, Mr. Toda and his team have created exciting brand environments worldwide.

Publishing credits include: Contract Magazine, Interior Design, Designer's West, Nikkei Journal and Shotenkenchiku of Japan, as well as Selection of World's Best Store Design and Stores of the Year. Mr. Toda has been on the faculty of UCLA's Extension program for 3 years, and is a frequent guest speaker. Mr. Toda has been a featured guest speaker at West Week for the ASID, UCLA, California State University at Long Beach, and at Art Center College of Design.
